Type

Specify the type of the access information to organize them.

Use the Access Information Type Doctype to define types of access information.

URI

Specify the uniform resource identifier (URI) to the system or service this document provides access information for.

Usually the access information is attached as a child to a system or service document. Therefore the URI is typically fetched from the parent document automatically.

Sections

Description

Describe the access information. This may include the reason why it is not critical to store this information on a wiki page.

Credentials

The credentials are stored in their own section.

Please note that this information is accessible to anyone who has access rights to the wiki page or is able to access this page by other means.

Notes

These are internal notes that are usually not exported and only visible to team members with write access.

But this is not a safe place to store sensible information. It is just a convenience for the reader to not be bothered with notes stored here for the authors for later use. The security level is about suppressing the representation by a CSS style. Therefore consider this as a convenience for the reader, not as a security tool.

The text of notes sections is also indexed.

References

For a document the references section contains pointers to resources that prove the statements of the document.

Often these proofs are not easily distinguishable from further information. In this case you may want to skip the reference section in favour for the resource list.

Resources

The resources section provides references to further information to the topic of the document.

This may be information on the internet provided by the resource or information in the team's information systems. Anything the reader of the resource might want to know, may be listed here.

The following doctypes provide a URI property and therefore may take advantage of the access information doctype.

IT Service: IT Services provide business relevant services for customers.
IT System: Systems are part of environments where products are deployed to.
Application: Applications provided functions required by services. Applications may be hosted on one or more systems.
Configuration Item: Configuration items (CIs) may be (sub-)systems or components. Whatever may change and needs to be tracked may be documented as a CI.
IT Asset: IT Assets define assets required or produced by processes.
