  • Default Homepages

Document type homepages in the index space serve as automatic homepages if the current space lacks a homepage for that document type.

Document type homepages make it easier for authors to find the right location for a new document. Typically authors should store a new document dependent on invariant information of the document. That is related to information that will never change. Thinking about what information this could be it almost always boils down to a very limited number of metadata information: creation date (and maybe user) and the type of document.

All page wizards for projectdoc blueprints provide a tool to store a new document as a child to its document type homepage instead of the current page.

Use Common Homepage

To use a doctype homepage of the index space as a homepage for all documents of that type, remove the homepage from the spaces that have the index space set as one of their delegate spaces.

Re-establish Doctype Homepage

To re-establish a removed homepage use a homepage wizard. A homepage wizard exists for each doctype add-on to create the homepages for their doctypes.

Type homepage in the upper right input box and select the homepage of the doctype add-on. For instance: Core provides the homepage for Role:

Standard Layout
A standard layout makes it easier for new members of a team to find information. A standard layout is project independent and is typically defined by an organisation.
Home and Index Pages
Home and index pages help to organize documents by type. For each doctype there is a homepage and and index page. The homepage shows the central documents that are added to it (immediate children). Index pages list all documents of the space, regardless of their location.
Specify Doctype Homepage
It is easy to define the default homepage for a given doctype in a space.
Think Repositories
To organize your documentation place documents in a typed repository and add additional views on demand.
