Today version 1.7.0 of the smartics projectdoc add-on for Confluence has been released!

projectdoc supports agile teams creating and maintaining project documentation. It provides templates and tools to improve the collaboration of team members.

Release Notes

The following sections show the highlights of this release. Please refer to the release notes or detailed information.

Section Macro

This release enhances the usability of the Section Macro. The title property is now required which allows to create a new section with title much faster than before. If you have installed the projectdoc Add-on on Confluence 5.8+, the level of the heading will be determined automatically. This makes it very easy to change the location of a section without manually changing the level.

Site Link Macro

The Site Link Macro allows to render a link to a resource on a versioned site. Basically the URL and the version are defined as space properties. Once the version property is updated, all links within the site are automatically updated to the new version.

This scenario is useful if you refer e.g. to a Maven report site for a given version of your product.

Expressions

The Display Document Properties Macro support expressions. Reference values as usual but create an expression (e.g. (${Users} * ${Copies}) / ${Users}) to be resolved to a value.

Calculation Columns

The Display Table Macro supports    summation of columns .

Transclusion Macro on Blog Articles

Currently blog posts are not fully supported by projectdoc. This release allows to use the Transclusion Macro on blog articles.

For details please refer to PDAC-453.

We checked the projectdoc Add-on and all its free doctype add-ons to work with the latest Confluence release – which is 5.8.4!

The Project Documentation Add-on – free macros to support you writing documentation with your Confluence collaboration platform – has also been updated!

Website Relaunch!

After years of separate website and wiki we are now pleased to announce that the two information systems are now run with the same technology, on the same server!

We are working with Atlassian Confluence and Brikit Theme Press.

While Confluence allows us to work with the same tool to organize our intranet and public website, Theme Press allows us to make them look modern and – just great!

We also reorganized the structure of our projectdoc documentation.

Our open source projects are currently on the move to our new website. Some have already made it to their new home

Maven Plugin Short Description
Generates an archive of modules to be copied to an JBoss 7 installation. The configuration is generated from the Maven POM with the help of a collection of generic and project-specific mapping rules.
Integrates the Enterprise Architect (Sparx Systems) into a Maven build process. This allows to export diagrams to be used for documentation in other tools, such as projectdoc.
Generates build metadata and provides it as Maven build properties. The properties are written to a properties file that can be included in the generated artifact. The information can also be added to the manifest file.

Others will follow and just have a landing page on our new server:

We are constantly tweaking the design, our menus, and will need to optimize running our blog and the integration of social media, but the transition from our old systems to our new was comparable simple thanks to Theme Press.

Disqus is the new discussion platform for our blog articles. So if you feel to jump into the discussion it is now much easier than before! Note that we have copied the comments from our old server manually as quotes. Tweets, likes, etc. are not yet migrated - and probably will be lost (sad).

You may notice that this new site is hosted on smartics.eu, while our old site has been hosted on smartics.de. The old blog will still be online for a couple of weeks. All requests to smartics.de will then be redirected to smartics.eu.

We hope that our visitors will now find it much easier to find the information they are looking for!

If you have feedback, please use our feedback button (you'll find on the right side of every page) or send us an email!
